I've been reading "A Red Herring Without Mustard" by Alan Bradley. Well, honestly, I'm on page 10 so I can't really tell you how much I love it. But I can tell you that I read the first two books in the series and I pretty much giggled my way through them. The books are about a young girl named Flavia who is a big time nerd (who has a crazy knowledge of chemistry and poisons) solves all kinds of murders while dodging her older sisters. I myself am a nerd, so I like them. If you are a nerd, you will like them, too.
I *ahem* got a sewing machine last Christmas, and well, I'm still trying to learn how to use it. Sewing is soooo not my forte (thank God I was not born in the 1600's, my poor family would have to walk around naked. Well fed, but naked.) But this website has lots of great tutorials for beginners like me.
For Thanksgiving I made these Overnight Refrigerator Crescent Rolls and this Sourdough Sausage Stuffing with Apples and Cranberries. Both were a huge hit, and super delicious. I didn't get a change to take a picture of them, because I was too busy eating, but I cannot wait to make them again!
I've been eyeing these awesome mugs for a long, long time. I love them. And I think I am getting over my "no eclectic mugs" rule because I just bought one. A Harry Potter one, of course!! I know, its super nerdy, but I have never once denied that I was. Anyway, I cannot WAIT for it to come in the mail! Merry Christmas to me!
We always love to make homemade playdough here, and I have recently started using a some essential oils, and so it was only a matter of time before I mixed the two together. We've done lavender and will soon be making some peppermint! They smell soooo good.
I seriously want an advent calendar from Pottery Barn Kids. They are just so darn cute! But I'm not spending $100 on one, and they never seem to go on sale, either. So in the meantime, we are doing a tradition that my mom did with my brother and I! Twenty-five Christmas and winter themed books wrapped and under the tree! Every night Ladybug gets to pick one, open it, and read it. She gets so excited! (And no, I don't own them all. About half of them came from the library, that way we can change out some for more age appropriate books, and keep it a little fresh. But she even loves the board books that are left over from last year!)
And one last thing. If you like to play boardgames, or you know someone who does - you NEED this game. It is seriously the most ridiculous, insane thing I have ever played. The rules are simple - take a card and do what it says. The card says to go hide in the bathroom until someone comes to find you? Ok! Change the rules so you have to hold hands with people on the same square as you? What a great way to get to know people! Every time we play this I end up crying from laughing so hard. But be warned, play it with fun people. Don't play it with stinkers like my husband who now refuses to play it because he doest want to make a fool out of himself.
**I was not reimbursed for any of these items, and these are my opinions only. Take it or leave it! :)
